Drawing Workshop - Draw, Draw, Draw
On
Friday, January 16, 2004 a workshop was held to introduce or re-introduce
participants to the joy of drawing. Drawing, of course, is the very
foundation of art-making. And so StoneSummit Studio was set abuzz with
music and the crackling of pencil and charcoal upon paper. Eight people
took part in the various exercises to encourage really seeing
objects, using our "Beginneršs Mind"
to connect intensely to what is drawn, and thus to coordinate hand and eye
in the act of drawing. Many remarkably sensitive explorations were produced.
After a morning's work, we shared lunch, good
conversation, and then returned to a final drawing challenge and homework
too (make a drawing of something beginning with a, b,...z in your sketchbook
using a variety of lines) to spur the drawers on to draw, draw, and draw
some more.
"Thank you for opening another window of
opportunity in my life," said one. "Your
knowledge and easy style make learning fun," said
another. Thanks to all who came and made such a stimulating day.
Email for next workshop.
